Fruit picking

One of our annual summer activities is to go to the U-pick farms near Brentwood, which is about a 45 minute drive east. Cherries are the big haul, and this is the time of year when they get ripe. You get a bucket from the farm, pick as many cherries (or other fruits) as you want, then they weigh the bucket and you're on your way.

Yesterday was our day to go. Unfortunately though, it was raining here on Friday and Saturday. It never rains this time of year. Especially in Brentwood, where it's a lot hotter and drier than the Bay Area. But for some reason this year we got a lot.

So we still went, but not many of the farms were open. We did find one where we could do a little picking, but it was muddy.

Really muddy.

But we brought a change of shoes, so we were OK to pick.

And some of the farms have their own roadside stands as well, so we loaded up there too.

And the results speak for themselves.
